This has really made pooping on the potty easier for us! I have shared this a bunch on my Instagram. Make sure you turn them around and use a DRY ERASE marker. Don’t leave it on the potty too long or it can stain. Challenge thoughts that don’t serve you This is one I have been REALLY working on lately. When you have a thought that you don’t love, or is negative or intrusive, stop and challenge it! For example: When we flew to Florida, I was so apprehensive about Baylor freaking out on the flight and it was causing me a lot of anxiety even weeks before we left. When I would start to worry, I would practice stopping the thought and saying to myself, well, what if that DOESN’T happen at all? What is everything is actually great? toddler travel tips - The Carseat Situation I HIGHLY suggest bringing your baby their own carseat and buying them their own seat if they are mobile. We ended up buying a cheap carseat - the cosco convertible from walmart for less than $50 to travel with. We had to buy this one because our Graco 4ever was too big for the seats on the plane. It was somewhat annoying getting it through the airport, but we just strapped it to one of our carry on suitcases and rolled it around. It was nice to be able to get Baylor out of the seat if he was antsy, but also have the option and room for him to sit or sleep in his own chair without TOO much freedom. This way we also already had a carseat in Florida and did not have to rent one. He has a collection of 3 of these books that are just TOO cute. They only have one to two words on a page which is perfect for young babies. The illustrations are so precious and simple. This book shows all of the baby animals only saying “mama” while the parent animals are trying to teach them the correct words for objects. The ending is heartwarming and it’s a fast - like 3 minute - read aloud. This one is the newest of the three to our collection but he still loves it. This one has to be Baylor’s ABSOLUTE favorite of the three. This one teaches animal sounds and showcases different animals than the title above. It features all the dad animals trying to make sure their baby’s first word will be “dada”, which, let’s be real, it usually is. Baylor is successful at making the sheep’s “baa” sound and the duck’s “quack” and knows exactly when they are coming up during the read aloud. This book is honestly so hilarious and clever. This books showcases a silly donkey who has quite a lot going on - if you know, you know. This is a great book to introduce donkeys and their sound, “hee-haw”. For older kids, its a sing-songy read aloud where they can join in with the repetition and have a laugh all at once. I think I have more fun reading it than Baylor at times! Apparently, there is a song that goes with it on the Scholastic website too if you’re into that! By: Bill Martin Jr./ Eric Carle We all love to see our baby’s experience picture books that were read to us! This is an oldie but such a GOODIE. Baylor is obsessed with Eric Carle’s famous illustrations, featuring, you guessed it, more animals. But, this time they are displayed in vibrant, unique colors! If you' haven’t read this one, you better get on it! It’s a classic. I love the repetition. Believe it or not, baby will catch on even if they are just listening and looking. I always add in the animals’ sounds while reading which is always crowd pleaser at our house. I bet you sense a theme here. We started class with one of those. All the babies were invited to shake rattles and explore the toys and each other before the session started. I love that the teacher gave the little ones time to warm up with each other. They used all kinds of songs, instruments (not pictured - we were having too much fun!) and routines that give babies an amazing structured play experience that integrates art. If you know me personally, you know I taught at an Arts Integrated Elementary School for the last 4 years, so this aspect of play and learning is really important to me! They also hold themed classes for a few weeks at a time. We were able to learn some African songs at our Safari themed session. I love how they included music from other cultures already at our first impression class. The class is limited to about 7 kids and one parent. The teacher did a great job encouraging babies to explore with one another in a safe way. Some babies would go up to other parents even and interact with them during different activities. This picture was taken during the ball rolling song. We learned how to use our ball as a drum. I was in HEAVEN. I could not recommend an epidural more. I was calm and able to relax a little bit. While I was sleeping, around 1 or 2 AM we had a tad bit of a scare. I had an extremely long contraction and the baby’s heart rate kept dropping pretty rapidly - 140 bpm….130….120.. and it wasn’t stopping.
